What Is the Rice Purity Test?
Born at Rice University in 1924, the Rice Purity Test began as a short survey freshmen took during O-Week — a playful way for new students to bond over shared (or unshared) experiences. A century later, it's a 100-question internet institution: part icebreaker, part nostalgia trip, part dare.
The rules never changed: tick everything you've done. Your score starts at 100 and drops by one for every checked box. The result is a number between 0 and 100 that says nothing about your worth — and everything about your stories.
How Scoring Works
Score = 100 − checked boxes. That's the entire formula. Tick 12 boxes, score 82. Tick 60, score 40. Our scoring guide breaks down all six score bands, from Squeaky Clean (98–100) to Rebel (0–29).
100% Anonymous. No Signup. Ever.
This is the part that matters: the quiz runs entirely in your browser. We never see your answers, your score, or your name — because we never ask for any of it. The optional retake tracker stores only your score and date in your own browser, and one click wipes it clean.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Rice Purity Test?
The Rice Purity Test is a famous 100-question self-assessment quiz that started at Rice University in 1924. You tick every experience you've had, and your score — from 100 (most innocent) down to 0 — reflects how much of the list applies to you. It's a bonding tradition, a conversation starter, and these days, an internet phenomenon.
How is the Rice Purity Test scored?
Dead simple: you start at 100 and lose one point for every box you tick. Score = 100 minus your checked count. Tick nothing and you score 100; tick everything and you score 0. Read our full scoring guide for the details.
What is a good Rice Purity Test score?
There is no good or bad score — it's a game, not a grade. Most college students land somewhere between 50 and 80. Anything above 90 is very innocent, anything below 30 is very experienced, and everything in between is perfectly normal.
Is the Rice Purity Test accurate?
It's accurate at exactly one thing: counting how many of its 100 items apply to you. It doesn't measure character, worth, or anything that actually matters. Take the number lightly — it's a snapshot of experiences, not a verdict on you.
Do I need to sign up to take the test?
No. No account, no email, no name. The quiz runs entirely in your browser and your answers never leave your device. That's the whole point — total anonymity.
Can I retake the Rice Purity Test?
Absolutely — most people retake it every year or two to see how their score changed. Our free retake tracker saves your past scores (score and date only) in your browser so you can compare.
Is my score private?
Completely. We never see your answers or your score. The optional score history lives only in your browser's localStorage, and you can wipe it anytime with the “Clear my data” button.
