Colors of Creation

The Story of Creation in Genesis is one that is full of wonder. During “The Colors of Creation” Creativity Camp, children entering 3rd, 4th, 5th, & 6th grade will hear the Creation Story and express their wonder through daily projects that encourage them to see colors, shapes, patterns, light, & objects in a whole new way! The mission of this camp is for children to forget any rules they know about “what is art?” and to share in being co-creators with God using fabrics, paints, buttons, paper, and more! The deadline to register your child is Wednesday July 10. Part time and full-time youth and adult volunteers are needed to greet campers, assist with use of materials, lead a small group, serve snacks, and clean up. To register and/or volunteer please email Laura@coascension.org

Contact Candice at candice@coascension.org for more information or if you would like to be part of The Visioning Team for Mission and Outreach through Joshua House.

Too often our work of mission to the world perpetuates systems of injustice and even oppression in ways that we are unaware and lack true knowledge to understand. We operate from a heart filled with good intentions recognizing our blessings and desiring to share them with others. Yet, our good intentions can be the “kindest way to destroy people.” As we begin to dream and create a vision around Joshua House, we are inviting the entire parish into study and discussion about how we become better neighbors to the Garden District and beyond. It is our hope you will read the book Toxic Charity and participate in one of three church wide discussion opportunities in the Easter season. Check the eTower and stay tuned for more information on meeting dates and how you can be a part of re-imaging mission at the Church of the Ascension.
