However, it’s good to know that in high season it’s worth booking in advance – this way you secure better prices and make sure a car is available.

From our experience, the best is to book your car 1–3 months before your trip.

If you try to book too early (6–12 months ahead), that period is often not priced yet, so the prices can be higher.

On Madeira it’s especially worth booking in time: small cars are available from just €33, with full insurance and no deposit.

If your flight is delayed, the car rental company will wait for you.

If you know you’ll be more than 2 hours late or arriving on a different flight, it’s a good idea to send a quick message via WhatsApp or email. If you’ve given them your flight number, the rental company will track your arrival and know your exact landing time.

If you arrive at night, with prior arrangement you can pick up the car in the early hours or the next morning.

If you can’t pick up the car at all because of the delay, our €1000 Guarantee covers the taxi cost to your accommodation and back to the rental office the next morning.
